Strength and corrosion resistance make Monel 500 hex nuts a great option for marine and chemical applications.
KD Fasteners, Inc.’s Monel 500 hex nuts offer three times the yield strength and two times the tensile strength of Monel 400 while maintaining the excellent corrosion resistance characteristic of its predecessor. These attributes are obtained by an age hardening process where aluminum and titanium are added to the nickel-copper base and then precipitated throughout the matrix.
Monel 500 hex nuts also have good toughness at high temperatures, low permeability and are non-magnetic at temperatures as low as -150°F. They remain corrosion resistant in environments ranging from pure water to non-oxidizing mineral acids, salts, and alkalis. Finally, Monel 500 hex nuts offer excellent resistance to high-velocity sea water and resistance to a sour gas environment.
