Inconel 718’s excellent corrosion resistance is due to the nickel-chromium content, even when combating chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking. The addition of molybdenum to the alloy helps prevent pitting.

Also known as alloy 718, Inconel 718 hex bolts are precipitation hardened. The heating and quenching process is used to change the alloy’s atomic structure, making it stronger by locking the metal’s grain structure in place. Additional strength can be gained by cold working.

As a result, Inconel 718 hex bolts are also twice as strong as Inconel 625 hex bolts. Inconel 718 hex bolts also have exceptionally high yield, tensile and creep-rupture properties at temperatures up to 1300°F.
